The free calm co-parenting app

Co-parenting is stressful.
We make it easier.

KidsFirst is a free co-parenting app with an AI Conflict Filter that rewrites hostile messages before they reach you, plus a shared calendar, expense tracking, and document storage, all in one place. Started by a parent, built by a community. Free for every parent.

Our story

We've been where you are. So we built something better.

Our founder started this journey when he witnessed his own daughter caught in the crossfire of conflict between her separated parents. In that moment, he knew he had to do something to protect her, and other children like her.

We have been there. Your pain is ours.

See it in action

Take a look inside the app.

One shared space that makes everyday co-parenting simpler.

Built by us, and you

Stop dreading the notification bell.

You shouldn't have to choose between your mental stress and coordinating care for your child. We remove the friction so you can focus on being a parent.

Text without the trigger

Our app acts as a shield, rewriting hostile, aggressive language instantly. You receive the logistics – pickup times, locations – not the insults. Other apps warn the sender, who can send the original anyway; ours rewrites before delivery and can't be switched off.

Hostile message · rewritten before it reaches you

One thread per topic

School, health, handovers and money each get their own thread, instead of one endless scroll where the important detail is twelve messages back. Pick up any subject where it left off.

Topic-Based Threads · nothing buried

A record that holds up

Messages can't be edited or deleted once sent, and you can export a full thread as a timestamped PDF. If a lawyer or mediator ever needs the history, it's already there.

Records · timestamped PDF export

One shared reality

Eliminate the "you never told me" arguments. Keep a single, undeniable record of every pickup, drop-off, and school event.

Calendar · one source of truth

No more digging for documents

Stop searching through old texts and emails for school reports or vaccine records. Keep all shared files in one secure, organised library.

Documents · find in seconds

Money without the awkward talks

Stop fighting about who paid for what. Upload receipts, track expenses visibly, and settle debts without a face-to-face confrontation.

Expenses · transparent splits

Learn more about KidsFirst features

Your privacy

Sensitive things, kept safe by design.

Co-parenting means sharing sensitive things – messages, schedules, documents. We don't sell or trade your data, and we don't run ads. Beyond that promise, here's how your privacy is protected by the way the app is built, not just what a policy says.

The AI sees less

We remove personal details such as names and contact information before your message reaches the AI, so it works on the message itself, not on who your family is.

Processed within AWS

Your messages are processed only to run the Conflict Filter, inside AWS infrastructure hosted in Australia.

Never used to train AI

Nothing you share – messages, documents or files – is ever used to train AI models. Full stop.

No one reads your records

No one on our team can access your private records. It's enforced by how the app is built, not just promised in a policy.

Photos don't carry your location

Location data is stripped from photos when you upload them. A photo of the kids shouldn't tell the other parent where you live.

Encrypted, and held in Australia

Encrypted in transit (TLS 1.2+) and at rest (AES-256), on AWS infrastructure in Australia. Compliant with the Privacy Act 1988 (AU), the Privacy Act 2020 (NZ), and Singapore's PDPA 2012.

A promise

Free. Every feature. Both parents.

There's no paid tier and nothing held back, and no second bill for the other parent. Most paid apps charge per parent, so a separated family pays twice, and a subscription only one parent agrees to buy half-works. KidsFirst is free because it's not run to make a profit: our running costs are largely covered by AWS's startup program, and it's built by a community of contributors who keep overheads low. So there's no business reason to lock the essentials behind a price, and the families who need this most are often already paying for lawyers, court fees, and a second home.

The core co-parenting tools, messaging with the Conflict Filter, calendar, expenses and documents, will stay free, always.

App Advertised price What a separated family pays
KidsFirst $0 $0
OurFamilyWizard AUD $199.99–$399.99
per parent, per year
AUD $399.98–$799.98
TalkingParents USD $7–$32/mo
per parent
USD $168–$768
AppClose USD $7.99–$8.99/mo
per parent
~USD $192–$216
2houses USD $169.99
per family, per year
USD $169.99
Prices checked 4 September 2026 against each company's own pricing page, in the currency that page publishes. Most bill per parent, so a family pays twice; 2houses is the exception, where one subscription covers both. AppClose and TalkingParents offer fee waivers on application for financial hardship and for parents in domestic violence situations. Competitor names shown for honest comparison, as they do good work too.

Funded to stay free.

Largely covered by AWS's startup program today, and we're pursuing grants and donations to grow.

Community-built.

Founder-led and built by a growing group of contributors, which keeps our overheads low.

Not run for profit.

Free today, every feature, both parents. Any money we bring in goes back into the mission.

What parents say

From parents finding their footing.

87%
of separated parents in our own survey say: "I want to care for my kids, but I don't want to deal with the other parent any more."
"We have been there. Your pain is ours."
